I shall split this post into three sections: last night in Berlin, bus dramas and today’s adventure in Prague.
LAST NIGHT IN BERLIN
Drunken shenanigans ahoy! The eye spy tour was very good and we saw what no mans land looked like back before the wall came down as well as the sight of the infamous tunnel 57. We then had free wine. Then there was vodka. Then jäger bombs! We had to use a map and clues to get from the first pub to the second and I was quite proud to find the “secret letter”. It was a total fluke, but still counts as a win. Our clue reading was appalling due to the drunken shambles of our team so our tour manager ended up cheating for us haha.
After the final drink we decided to head back to the hotel rather than on to a nightclub so 7 of us walked back through Berlin at night. It wasn’t as scary as I thought and having a pretzel to munch on sure helped! No hangover this morning – lucky me 🙂
BUS DRAMAS
I did however wake up with a killer head cold this morning and my sore throat had gone from faintly annoying to devastating. After fumbling my way through breakfast, we couldn’t get on a lift down to checkout (all too full) so had to drag our crap down three flights of stairs. By this time I was close to homicidal and we finally got on the bus to see that a few girls had taken other peoples seats. There was much grumbling about this and a lot of bad feeling. Turns out front of bus people don’t want to sit with back of bus people! Especially not when they smell like spew, farts and stale vomit.
It was then I discovered Percy was gone. I was devastated. We then left for Prague minus one guy who had disappeared the night before and never come back (he finally appeared in Prague tonight after catching the train here, no idea what the story was).
Bus politics seems very tricky. It doesn’t help when people join the tour late, don’t socialise and then just take other peoples seats. Drama, drama, drama!
PRAGUE
We stopped in Dresden on the way here. It was amazing. The buildings are just out of this world! We spent 2.5hrs there and had lunch wandered around a spring market and then did some shopping. I also bought cold and flu drugs and something for my throat at an apothoke (pharmacy). No idea what this stuff is but it seems to help a little, the throat stuff is particularly good.
After Dresden it was on to Prague and we rediscovered Percy! Someone must have found him in the stairwell after we ran down the stairs in the morning and rescued him. Lucky us.
Prague is amazing. The country side is all windy roads and hills, the roads are cobblestones and the buildings are so old…we also had amazing weather this afternoon which is a first for awhile.
We went to The Charles Bridge and Hradcany which is the Prague Castle. Some pictures are included below, it was a fantastic view. Then we ate dinner at the hotel, went shopping (emma bought new clothes) and are now enjoying the free hotel wifi and resting our feet for tomorrow when we have an entire day free in Prague.
We are having a fantastic trip so far and have made some awesome new buddies 🙂
