My initial travel mascot was Percy the Platypus. He went on all my big overseas trips (Europe 2012, Japan 2013 and Europe 2015) and features in many photos. In 2018 he retired and his youthful counterpart Patrick (much smaller) took over.
Why a platypus? Well…you can’t get much more awesome than “a cross between a duck and a beaver with psycho poisoning abilities”. Thanks Canadian student for that quote!
Percy and Patrick love to travel, sample local food and just hang out with new friends.
Percy’s favourite place to visit was Munich where he got drunk at Oktoberfest (photos below) and his least favourite places have been Berlin, where he was dropped in a stairwell and almost left there amid much hysteria, and Japan where he spent most of the trip hiding from the cold in the suitcase!
Percy and Patrick retired in 2018….mostly because I lost both of them….
Percy loved borrowing my Oktoberfest hat
After a few steins Percy lost the hat…
Percy got his own mini-stein
