Day 6 – fairy floss, a puzzle room and DRACULAS!

You know it’s going to be a good day when you start it with fairy floss for breakfast! Another laneway cafe (Issus) produced nutella french toast with mascarpone cheese, berries and fairy floss….mmmm…..

We had a late start to breakfast today because I finally chucked a tantrum about the broken floorboard above our room which meant every time the bed above us moved even a slight amount…there was clicking and creaking noises. It was driving me slowly and surely insane. So we have been moved into a different room on the top floor! Thanks Adara Collins, great customer service.

After brunch (mmmm fairy floss on toast mmmm) we went off to try an escape room called “Secrets of the Brewery” at Escape Hunt Experience on Queen Street in the CBD. The game intro reads:

This was actually my third escape room – I’ve done one in Sydney and The Riddle Room in Canberra with a bunch of students. We finished this one in 45 mins (out of the given 60) and the only downside was the final part wasn’t very clear…so we were still faffing about trying to solve it when it had actually been solved. The couple before us did that too so I’m thinking it was not entirely our fault. It was an easy one so if you have done some rooms before, I recommend trying one that’s a bit harder.

After the puzzle solving, I gave my brain a rest with MORE SHOPPING at Dangerfield in their clearance store on Swanston St. So dangerous….but glorious….but dangerous….but panda themed….argh. Then it was nap time to prepare for Dracula’s Cabaret! I had to get all flamed up in my new Dangerfield pieces with my unicorn hair of course.

The web link to their show is here: http://www.draculas.com.au/melbourne/ and if you’ve never been before it’s well worth it. We have been once two years ago and B really enjoyed it so he actually asked to go again for his birthday. I booked VIP this time to avoid lining up which meant free canapés and bubbles, an easy line up to get in and better seating.

The show this time around was “Resurrection” which feature their top hits over the last 10 years. My favourite was definitely “When I was a sperm….” although there was a really cool version of a Muse song as well.

So much cocktail, so little time.

Such a great night! The other plus side to coming on a Thursday was there was no line to get photos with the cast afterwards….yippee!
