Day 6 – Prague

Today we explored Prague, it was a “no bus day” due to the tourism rules here so our guide (Hannah) gave us all metro tickets to get around. We slept in until 8am and had a late breakfast at the hotel – the bread was really mouldy, the eggs were sloppy and people touched everything with their hands so breakfast was very off putting to be honest.

Then the adventure begun!

We walked down to the tram stop and hopped on a tram into the city. Ba-bow! Fail. Turns out we were meant to get on a train! Luckily Amelia and Chris sorted us out and after an adventure to the other side of town we made it into the city. We walked into the town square and saw the astronomical clock, beautiful churches and the town fountain. We were lucky enough to arrive just before the hour so got to see the little apostle figurines on the clock do some actions and then the trumpet player (trumpeter?) play from every corner of the tower.

We walked over to the other end of the bridge from the town square and went on a river cruise with a whole bunch of our contiki crew. Some people from another group joined us and gee am I glad we didn’t pick a camping tour! They are staying over an hour out of Prague and were pretty unimpressed with it. The cruise was great as we got genuine Czech food – I could live off the goulash and dumplings omnomnom. There was also free wine mmm wine. I have noticed when there is wine there is a lot more photos of Percy!

After the cruise we walked back through the town square and did some tourist shopping. I got a new bag as mine ripped and bought a whole bunch of souvenirs for people back home. I also bought some pretty earrings and a cool, very out there watch (it’s bright pink lol).

We finally found the train station and caught the line back to the hotel. Now it is resting time before venturing out to dinner. Some of the other people on the bus are heading out for a €20 pub crawl tonight with free absinthe shots but I think I will be having a quiet one as I feel like absolute crap from this stupid flu – plus tomorrow we will be going to Dachau on the way to Munich and I do not want to be hungover for that.

This time tomorrow night we will be at Oktoberfest in Munich! 🙂
